The Spirit Within And The Spirit Upon 2

Last week we saw that God’s intention for man from the beginning is for man to become like him. He wanted man to be one with him.

So the question is:

How will man become God?

And if Genesis 1:26 was a prophesy of how God wanted to make man like God and Genesis 1:27 is a prophesy that God will make it come to pass, then;

Has God done it? Has the prophesy been fulfilled?

Man was created in Genesis 2

So this makes it obvious that in Genesis 1:26-27 God was not talking about the creation of man.

Genesis 1:26-27 were prophesies that God had an intention.

But for this intention to be fulfilled…

Man must hear it and believe it.

For God to dwell in man; he needs man to make his choice.

Interesting right? Follow me further.

God will never trample on man’s choice.

Let’s see Genesis 2: 16-17 KJV

[16] And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

[17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

When God created man, he was neither alive nor dead. Man was in between (innocent).

Man’s decisions will then decide if he will be with God or away from God.

A man who has never heard about Jesus is neither a sinner or a believer; so God had to make his intentions known to Man in the garden.

The Tree of life in Genesis 2 is not a literal tree.

It is not a tree with a fruit that man was asked to eat some and not eat some.

The fruit is not an apple, a guava or pineapple.

In John 15:1-5 KJV

[1] I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. [2] Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. [3] Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. [4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. [5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Jesus refers to himself as The Tree

In John 10:10 KJV

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Jesus tells us that He is the one that gives life abundantly.

This simply means ‘He is the tree of life that men should eat to have LIFE’

I know you are thinking how can I conclude just like that?

The new testament is the light we use to see the old testament. There are so many things in the old testament that might seem confusing or that we just might not understand but with the New testament, we are able to see Jesus in every part of the old testament.

So, after seeing Jesus’ words in the new testament: Jesus calling himself a tree, Jesus telling us he gives life, we are confident that the tree of life is Jesus.

You might say; but God told them not to eat the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

This is rather what you should ask:

If you eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, what happens? You die.

If you eat of the tree of life, what happens? You live.

This simply tells us that The tree of knowledge of good and evil is the opposite of the tree of life.

Meaning, eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is not eating the tree of life.

I hope this is not confusing?

Let’s look further.

What does it mean to EAT of the tree?

Whenever you hear the word ‘JESUS’ don’t see a man. See God’s intention that was made flesh.

God coming into the world to fulfil his intentions for man.

Jesus was eternal life walking on the earth in human form. So, when you hear Jesus, don’t see a man. See Eternal Life.

If the tree of life was Jesus and he was God’s intention for eternal life, then God was simply telling Adam about the tree of life (his intention) he had promised to give them.

So what does it mean to EAT?

(John 6:50,51,54,56,57)

We should not see fruits

Jesus was speaking figuratively

Eternal life is living by Christ, which is life.

And Jesus said ‘He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, dwells in me and I in him.

Eternal life is the intermingling of God and man.

John 6:47 KJV

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

This makes us understand that, believing in Jesus gives eternal life.

John 3:15,16 KJV

[15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Tells us the same.

So if Jesus says eating and drinking him, gives eternal life

And

Believing in him gives eternal life…

Yeah…

Eating is Believing.

So what God was simply telling Adam and Eve in the garden was … Believe in my intention for you.

This means, eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is not believing in God’s intention.

Eating of the tree of life is believing in God’s intention.

So, How will man become God?

By believing in Jesus.

Has this been fulfilled?

Yes. In the life of the believer today.

A Quick recap:

Eternal life is God himself, which is also Jesus and the Holy spirit.

Eternal life is God and man becoming one forever.

How God gives man Eternal life is when man believes; if Adam had believed, he would have had it; he’d tell his children and all men would believe.

God planned to give man himself from the beginning, but man didn’t believe, then man died and was separated from God.

But today, those who believe in Jesus, have Eternal Life.

Romans 10:9-10 KJV

[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We can now boldly say ‘God is in us and we in Him’

We can now boldly say ‘We have eternal life’

We can now boldly say ‘We are one with God’

And this is our reality.

Remember, we are still studying ‘The spirit within and the spirit upon’

Now that you understand salvation in its elementary stage we can now proceed to knowing the difference between ‘The Spirit Within and The Spirit Upon’
