Get a separate room in your home (preferably with a door) where you can work without being disturbed or constantly bumped into or distracted by other people in your home. If you live alone, then you might not need to worry about distractions.

You should probably get a room that’s not close to your bed so you won’t be tempted to sleep when you get tired.

If you don’t have a spare room, get a space in your sitting room/parlor that you can use for your home office.

Also, ensure the room is well-lit and has great ventilation. If possible, let the room be painted white. Because, white rooms have been known to foster productivity.

To have a balanced work and personal life, organization and productivity are the first on the list of things to take note of.

Having the right desk will help make that a possibility. There are several desk types to choose from but ensure that when choosing the desk you want to use for your home office, you choose a desk that is wide enough to accommodate your laptop, your monitor (if you have one), and several other things you’d eventually put on the desk.

Also make sure your desk has drawers and storage units where you can put things you want to easily access while working.

You might get distracted if you keep standing up to get things while working, so make sure your desk has a storage unit where you can put the extra things you need in the process of working.

An ergonomic office chair is important for your body posture. If you don’t want to end up with an ache in your back, neck, and arm, then you should get an ergonomic chair. 

Also, when getting this chair ensure you get the one with an armrest, leg rest (sometimes), neck rest, and with a mesh (for reducing sweat and discomfort).

Make sure you also set your chair right. If your chair is higher than your desk or laptop, you might have to strain your eyes or develop a neck ache.

Most ergonomic chairs come with adjustable features, so learn about them and fix your chair rightly.

The importance of a laptop stand is to help you set your laptop at eye level. 

It will help you place your laptop in a position suitable for you which will prevent undue strain or ache.

For people working from home, concentration is usually the bane of our work, which is why noise blocking headphones are great.

Good lighting aids maximum concentration and it helps to make your work easier. So, ensure you invest in an extra desk lamp even if you have light around your work area.

The light will also keep you motivated and focused. 

If you also record videos for youtube or social media, having a led light will be a useful tool for you.

If you do a lot of paperwork for your business or for your clients and customers, you will need a place to store them neatly so that you can always get back to them when you need them.

Getting a filing cabinet and storage is the best bet. You will always know where your documents are kept and you’ll never have to scramble to get them.

The importance of a mouse pad cannot be overemphasized. It helps to speed up your work progress and it also helps you maintain a good arm posture while working.

Many people who use their laptops frequently can attest to the fact that a built-in mouse can be a pain in the neck once in a while.

So, ease yourself of the stress by buying an external mouse and getting a mouse pad (quit using papers and cardboards as a substitute).

Plants have been known to increase productivity and replenish focus. When you have plants in your office space, you are constantly motivated. 

It helps you stay focused and it boosts healing and decreases fatigue.

Plants have a way of connecting you to nature and helping you work in a stress less environment. It is also an energy booster that fosters your motivation to work as long as you want to.

You can get an indoor plant and place it somewhere in your office or get a desk plant for your work desk.

Baskets/trash bin

And to the final and important home office decor idea; trash bin.

Trash bins are important for keeping your workspace tidy. 

Without a trash bin, you might find yourself subconsciously littering your work environment which is bad for your work productivity and work focus.

So, get a trash bin and empty it at the end of the day.

Working from home has its perks but one downside to it is how it affects our productivity and causes us to decrease in our work ethic.

With an office in the home, the enthusiasm and camaraderie of work will come back to you and enable you to work as much as you want to and you will have no trouble crushing those deadlines.

Some other home office decor ideas you can get are wall clock, standing/ceiling fan, mouse pad, printers/scanners, external mouse and keyboard, speaker, book shelf, printer stand, white board and marker, laptop wrist rest, arts, and anti blue light glasses.
