One morning the following week, Maxine felt a gentle nudge as she came in from recess. She looked up. A girl with blonde hair handed her a small folded note. Her name, “Maxine James,” was printed neatly on the front.
Surprised, Maxine glanced up, but the girl just shrugged. She didn’t seem to know what the note was about either.
Maxine unfolded the note carefully so she wouldn’t tear the paper. She hoped it wasn’t nasty, but something about the handwriting on the front told her that this was something special.
Maxine folded the note back up and slipped it into her pocket. She bit her lip. Who were these kids, and what did they want with her?
She was baffled but curious. And when the lunch bell rang, she hurried toward the library, keeping her eyes peeled for a boy in green.

Another Book review of Robbie Yates’ world of wonders and quirks. I Love Robbie yates way of writing, its a middle aged based story that speaks powerfully to not only the middle aged ones, but also young adults and Grown adults.
The Kooky Kids Club is a book with a loud speaker that thoroughly spoke to me. It was a really quick read for me, that started slowly then ended heroically.
Maxine, is a quirky girl, who was really different from her classmates. She tried to be like them, but she never fit in. The only person who gets her is her aunt Izzie and her class teacher Miss Thompson. Not until she received a letter telling her to join a club, a club that helped her embrace the quirky parts of her…
The Kooky Kids Club is a book that builds one’s self esteem, I think all parents need to hurriedly get the book for their children, so they can meet Maxine and Miss Jessie Thompson, the quirky girl and the once quirky girl who learnt to embrace that odd and different part of them.
I am also a Member of The Kooky Kids, it was a pleasure becoming a Kooky Kids Club member.
This book will not only show you that the world will hate you for being different, but it will also tell you that there will be people like you, that there are people who will love you just the way you are, that there are people who won’t give up on you. Just like Maxine didn’t give up on Miss Thompson, when she suddenly disappeared.
I learnt a lot from this story, even as a youth, there are lots of differences we have that keeps us from the society, or that we try to hide from others. There are times we try to be like them but to no avail. The Kooky Kids Club lets you know its okay to be quirky, its okay for some people to dislike you, its okay for you not to be like others. But, learn to appreciate the people who really care and learn to appreciate yourself.
I didn’t just read this book for my entertainment, I learnt a great deal from it. I enjoyed it so much.
Another thing you will enjoy is reading the history of The Kooky Kids Club, it will interest you to know who found the club and wrote the history.
Robbie Yates puts the WoW in this book.
